Publisher NIS America and developer Nihon Falcom have officially announced that the celebrated action role-playing game Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA will make its way to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 on February 25, 2027. This enhanced port will introduce high-performance technical upgrades, including support for framerates up to 120 fps and local cooperative multiplayer via the console's GameShare functionality.
To celebrate the hardware announcement, NIS America debuted a brand new promotional trailer highlighting the upgraded visual performance and classic fast-paced action:
A Classic Journey on New Hardware
Originally launching back in 2017 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, Ys VIII follows the legendary adventurer Adol Christin after he washes ashore on the cursed Isle of Seiren following a shipwreck. Alongside fellow survivors, players must establish a thriving village, defend against monstrous beasts, and uncover the mysteries of a blue-haired maiden named Dana.
Adol awakens shipwrecked and stranded on a cursed island. There, he and the other shipwrecked passengers he rescues form a village to challenge fearsome beasts and mysterious ruins on the isolated island.

Over the years, Nihon Falcom's beloved title has expanded across multiple platforms, arriving on PC, the original Nintendo Switch, and eventually PlayStation 5, accumulating over 500,000 copies sold worldwide by late 2018. The upcoming February 2027 release on Nintendo's next-generation hardware aims to deliver the definitive portable action-RPG experience for both returning fans and newcomers alike.
