Publisher Marvelous has officially lifted the curtain on Muramasa: Revenant Blades, a definitive enhanced edition uniting Vanillaware's acclaimed action RPG catalogue for modern hardware. The title is scheduled to slash its way onto PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo's upcoming successor hardware, and PC via Steam on February 4, 2027. Notably, this release marks a historic milestone for the developer, serving as the first-ever Vanillaware title to officially land on PC.
Alongside the announcement, Marvelous dropped an extensive ten-minute gameplay showcase detailing the updated action, pristine visual fidelity, and expanded features.
Set against the backdrop of historical myth, the narrative centers on lethal blades forged by the cursed blacksmith Senji Muramasa, driving six distinct protagonists into bloody conflict against rampaging demons and rival factions.
Deep in Japan's past, a great conflict erupts over the ownership of fabled and powerful samurai swords forged by the legendary Senji Muramasa. These swords grant their owner both incredible power and a madness that can be sated only by blood.
This upcoming edition introduces striking 4K visuals, completely refreshed English localization and voice acting, and specialized gameplay modes. Players will be able to follow the intertwined destinies of the original Nintendo Wii protagonists, Momohime and Kisuke, alongside the four DLC characters introduced in the PlayStation Vita version—Okoi, Gonbe, Arashimaru, and Rajaki—with complete freedom to tackle the narratives in any sequence.
