The dark fantasy adaptation of Yura Urushibara's hit manga is preparing for its next major storyline. The production team behind Tougen Anki: Nikko Kegon Falls Arc has officially released the synopsis and preview stills for Episode 1, titled Training Begins (Shugyou Kaishi), ahead of its scheduled premiere on October 2, 2026.
Based on the supernatural manga serialized in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion, which boasts over 6.5 million copies in circulation, the franchise reimagines the classical Momotaro folklore into a high-stakes war between the bloodlines of the Oni and the Momotaro Clan. The new television series is directed by Ado Nonaka at animation studio Studio Hibari, with composition guidance by Hiroyuki Hashimoto and series composition handled by Yukie Sugawara.
The Nikko Expedition
Following the fierce clashes across the Kyoto and Nerima arcs, the students of Rasetsu Academy have gradually honed their skills. However, deep ideological rifts tear through the ranks: Ikari Yaoroshi rebels against Naito Mudano's teachings on camaraderie, defecting to the militant Kikokutai led by Hayate Todoroki. When Shiki Ichinose and his classmates discover the Kikokutai's merciless philosophy targets non-combatants, they mobilize toward Nikko—where the dried-up Kegon Falls conceals a sinister research facility.
The premiere episode throws the Rasetsu Academy students into an unforgiving mountain survival test amidst a punishing blizzard, challenging the entire squad to reach the summit within a strict 24-hour limit while evading part-time instructors Hakure Nekozaki and Yu Innami.
The series stars Kazuki Ura as Shiki Ichinose, Hiroshi Kamiya as Naito Mudano, and Kotaro Nishiyama as Jin Kougasaki. Musical themes are provided by Hiromitsu Kitayama with the opening track "BACKLASH" and TRACK15 performing the ending theme "Te to Te".
