Three Nijisanji VTubers are making their feature-length anime voice acting debut in Netflix’s upcoming movie The Ribbon Hero, bringing a unique blend of internet culture and traditional voice acting to the streaming platform.
Netflix officially announced that VTubers Mito Tsukino, Lunlun, and Debidebi Debiru have joined the voice cast of the new anime film. The trio will voice a group of loyal companions who cross paths with the protagonist Sapphire after she flees her destroyed homeland and begins working at a mining site in Goldland. Mito Tsukino takes on the role of Hecate, Lunlun voices Chick, and Debidebi Debiru portrays Tack. They are joined by veteran voice talents Yoshimasa Hosoya and Yusuke Tezuka, rounding out the newly expanded cast.
A Modern Reimagining
The project draws direct inspiration from manga pioneer Osamu Tezuka’s classic 1953 manga Princess Knight. The narrative follows Sapphire as she takes up the mantle of the Ribbon Hero to battle a mysterious calamity known as Nergal after losing her kingdom.
Reflecting on stepping into a project tied to Tezuka's legendary legacy, Mito Tsukino shared her perspective on the responsibility involved.
Being involved in such an important project based on Princess Knight, a work that has been loved for so long and holds such an important place, carried a tremendous sense of responsibility, and I approached it with complete sincerity.

First-time voice actor Lunlun admitted initial nerves gave way to a rewarding experience in the recording booth, noting that the upbeat atmosphere helped ease the transition from streaming to theatrical animation. Meanwhile, Debidebi Debiru expressed genuine astonishment at receiving the casting offer.
The Ribbon Hero begins streaming exclusively on Netflix worldwide on August 8.
