Plott, the digital production company renowned for its dominant presence on YouTube with short-form web anime, is officially expanding its reach into terrestrial Japanese television broadcasting next year. The studio announced that its upcoming broadcast initiative will consist of three distinct short anime series rolling out consecutively on over-the-air television networks. Rather than licensing out its intellectual properties to third parties, Plott will manage the entire lifecycle of these television titles, overseeing planning, production, licensing, and comprehensive merchandising business development.
The move marks a major milestone for the digital-native company, which has built a massive audience through independent online distribution. Plott currently commands an impressive digital footprint, pulling in over 900 million monthly views across its various YouTube channels, accumulating more than 14 million total subscribers, and surpassing 24 billion cumulative views. Known for adapting web manga properties such as Teikō Penguin by Torinosasami and Momota Inoue's Konketsu no Karekore, the studio has also ventured into collaborative projects, including partnering with Bandai Namco Entertainment for the demon-slaying sword fighter short anime Tengu Tōsen and releasing Rakuraku Hanten.
While Plott's roots remain firmly planted in digital ecosystems—exemplified by its New Generation YouTube Manga Award and subsequent adaptation of Keita Uehara's Anti-Hero Generations—this transition to terrestrial broadcasting indicates a broader industry trend where web-born animation powerhouses leverage their online momentum for traditional broadcast expansion. Specific titles, staff allocations, and exact premiere schedules for the three upcoming television projects are slated to be revealed by the studio at a later date.
