Graphic design company Torch has officially announced that its Mazenchu character brand is leaping off the page and into an upcoming anime adaptation. The project is scheduled to begin broadcasting on October 7 as the inaugural original anime segment within Kansai TV's morning news and lifestyle program Yoidon!, bringing a fresh animated narrative to daily morning television.
The concept of Mazenchu revolves around an imaginative culinary school setting where various types of food come to life to experience youth, forge deep friendships, engage in friendly rivalries, and navigate bittersweet romances. The newly unveiled main voice cast features Obara Rea as Sume the sushi rice girl, Sakura Hayashi as Abo the avocado girl, Uki Nashiki as Akami the tuna boy, and Kokoro Kikuchi as Shinko the pickled vegetable boy.
Production Staff and Studio Pedigree
The original characters were conceived by Ebi. Directing the project is Yuusuke Takase, known for his extensive CG work on notable productions such as Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I - The Egg of the King and Detroit Metal City, leading the animation efforts at Studio Nanahoshi.
Additional creative teams contributing to the production include dugout handling sound production, Aiin producing the music, and Liberty Animation Studio crafting the opening animation. Bonjin serves as the offline editor, while Sayo Kawase acts as executive producer for the Torch-planned and produced venture.
