The production team behind the upcoming television adaptation of TORCH's popular character brand Mazenchu has officially announced that actress and personality First Summer Uika will provide the opening narration for the series. Alongside this casting update, the staff released a vibrant opening preview video showcasing the distinctive premise and Uika's voice work.
Set within a unique school environment populated entirely by food characters, Mazenchu explores the everyday friendships, academic rivalries, and bittersweet romances of its edible cast. Created by artist Ebi, the project features a voice cast that includes Obara Rea as sushi rice girl Sume, Sakura Hayashi as avocado girl Abo, Uki Nashiki as tuna boy Akami, and Kokoro Kikuchi as pickled vegetable boy Shinko.
Direction for the project is handled by Yūsuke Takase, known for his CG animation work on Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I - The Egg of the King and Detroit Metal City, with production led by Studio Nanahoshi. Opening animation was produced by Liberty Animation Studio, while sound production is managed by Studio dugout and music production by Aiin.
The series is scheduled to premiere on October 7, airing as an original short-format segment within Kansai TV's morning lifestyle program Yoidon!.
