The long-awaited television anime adaptation of Toshiaki Iwashiro's cult-classic manga Psyren has officially locked in its broadcast schedule. The series is set to premiere on October 5, accompanied by a dynamic new promotional video and a striking key visual that sets a tense, atmospheric tone for the deadly sci-fi survival game ahead.
The narrative kicks off when high school student Ageha Yoshina stumbles upon a mysterious red telephone card left behind in a public phone booth. His search for his missing classmate, Sakurako Amamiya—who possessed an identical card—draws him into the dangerous urban legends surrounding a secret organization known as Psyren. Once entangled, Ageha and other participants are thrust into a lethal alternate reality from which there is no easy escape.
Originally serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from 2007 to 2011 across 16 volumes, Psyren has maintained a passionate global fanbase, notably placing high in reader polls for titles deserving an animated adaptation. The upcoming series will stream internationally via Crunchyroll.
Production Pedigree & Cast
Animation production is handled by SATELIGHT, under the direction of Katsumi Ono, renowned for his work on the Symphogear franchise. The creative team also features series composer Shin Yoshida and a powerhouse trio of music composers consisting of Takashi Ohmama, Tatsuhiko Saiki, and Shu Kanematsu. Additionally, rock outfit CLAN QUEEN will perform the opening theme song, titled "WARNING!!"
