The development staff behind Pokemon Unite announced that the free-to-start team battle game will terminate its service on March 23, 2027, across both the Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms. Ahead of the complete shutdown, in-game Aeos gem currency sales, UNITE Club memberships, and automatic renewals have already been suspended.
Tournament Schedule and Offline Library Feature
Despite the looming closure, the official Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament will proceed as planned, with qualifier matches commencing on December 5. Additionally, a special update scheduled for November 12 will introduce an offline library feature. This tool allows players to archive specific records and in-game achievements, provided they complete the necessary data download prior to the final service termination.
Franchise Impact and Development History
Developed by Tencent's TiMi Studio Group in collaboration with The Pokémon Company, Pokemon Unite initially debuted on the Nintendo Switch in July 2021, followed by iOS and Android releases in September of the same year. As the franchise's inaugural strategic team-based battle title, the game popularized 5-on-5 real-time combat mechanics, allowing players to capture wild creatures, level up during matches, and unleash devastating Unite moves.
