Based on the children's picture book series published by Kadokawa since April 2020, Pan Dorobo centers on an eccentric bread thief operating across local bakeries. According to Kadokawa's corporate financial reports for the fiscal year ending March 2025, the franchise emerged as the company's highest net sales generator in its Publication and IP Creation category, surpassing titles such as Sword Art Online and Delicious in Dungeon.
