Hakusensha's Melody magazine has announced that creator Tsunami Umino will adapt her earlier 2018 one-shot manga Omiai Tantei Katabiranotsuji Nagi (Matchmaking Detective Nagi Katabiranotsuji) into a full-scale serialization. The new series is slated to debut in the magazine's February 2027 issue on December 25, alongside a republication of the original one-shot that first appeared in Hakusensha's Hana Yume Ai digital magazine.
The premise centers on Nagi, an heiress belonging to the esteemed Katabiranotsuji household. During an arranged matchmaking session, she abruptly tells her prospective partner that she intends to visit his residence. This eccentric and unprompted demand sets off an intriguing mystery regarding her true motives.
Tsunami Umino is widely recognized for her critically acclaimed work The Full-Time Wife Escapist (Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu), which ran from 2012 to 2020 and secured the shojo category prize at the 39th Kodansha Manga Awards. Beyond her romantic comedy hits, Umino's creative portfolio includes the manga Chloe et Emma (Kuroema), which recently received a five-episode live-action adaptation distributed globally via Amazon Prime Video. Fans of Umino's sharp character dynamics can look forward to seeing how her investigative matchmaking tale expands into a regular monthly series.
