Following the recent conclusion of her celebrated serialisation, Haruka Kawachi is returning to the world of her historical romance tale. The December issue of Kodansha's Kiss magazine has confirmed that Rainy Day Serenade (Namidaame to Serenade) will spawn a brand-new spinoff series entitled Namidaame to Serenade: Gaiden. The side story is slated to make its debut in the magazine's upcoming issue on November 25.
According to early details released by the editorial department, the narrative shifts its lens to center upon a heartbroken Kikunoshin. The storyline catches up with him as he unexpectedly stumbles into a chaotic commotion at the Fuji Sakura cafe, a familiar establishment he frequently visits.
Expanding the Franchise Landscape
Haruka Kawachi originally launched the flagship manga within Kodansha's Kiss publication back in 2014, ultimately concluding the sweeping romance in November 2025. Kodansha subsequently released the fourteenth and final compiled book volume in February. International readership has also embraced the title, with Kodansha USA Publishing licensing the work for omnibus releases.
Beyond the pages of the manga, the property continues to grow its multimedia footprint. The series is slated to receive a full television anime adaptation in 2027, building upon the creator's rich history of animated adaptations, which includes the 2012 Fuji TV Noitamina broadcast of Natsuyuki Rendezvous.
