The November issue of Asahi Shimbun Publications' Nemuki+ magazine delivered an important update regarding Ei Ohitsuji’s atmospheric dark fantasy series Ochibure Zeus to Dorei no Ko (Fallen Zeus and the Slave Boy). Following the conclusion of its Egypt Arc and a subsequent hiatus called to adjust production workflows and prioritize the author's health, the series is officially migrating to Ichijinsha's Zero-Sum Online platform.
According to announcements from both the magazine and Ei Ohitsuji's official X account, the digital transition comes with distinct changes for readers. Digital sales of the current serialization format will halt on October 31, though previously purchased volumes will remain accessible. When the manga restarts on Zero-Sum Online in spring, it will begin anew from chapter one, incorporating substantial narrative revisions and artistic corrections.
A Fresh Start for the Gods
The author noted that the opening chapters will diverge significantly from their initial magazine run. Despite these extensive overhauls—which include rewriting foundational elements of the early narrative—Ei Ohitsuji reassured fans that the continuity will bridge smoothly into the upcoming sixth compiled volume, ensuring the transition connects seamlessly with the previously released fifth tankōbon published by Asahi Shimbun Publications in March 2025.
Originally launched in Nemuki+ back in February 2022, the series has garnered a dedicated following for its unique mythological framing and emotional depth. Alongside this title, Ei Ohitsuji is widely recognized for illustrating the manga adaptation of Satsuki Nakamura's Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court, which continues serialization in Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero-Sum and enjoys English publication via Seven Seas Entertainment.
