Romance enthusiasts have a long-term horizon to look forward to, as the official website for the television anime adaptation of Naruki's Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun (Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent) manga has announced a 2027 premiere window. Alongside the release date confirmation, production committees dropped the first wave of promotional materials, including striking teaser visuals and an initial teaser promotional video.
Production Pedigree
The project brings together an experienced creative team known for romantic comedies and character-driven narratives. Makoto Hoshino, recognized for his work on Shin no Nakama ja Nai to Yuusha no Party wo Oidasareta node, Henkyou de Slow Life suru Koto ni Shimashita, takes the helm as director. Series composition is handled by Megumi Shimizu (Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko!), while Ruriko Watanabe (4-nin wa Sorezore Uso wo Tsuku) adapts the character designs. Animation production is shared between Studio Flad and WAO WORLD.
Franchise Origins and Global Reach
Naruki launched the romantic comedy series in Kodansha's Bessatsu Friend magazine in January 2021, steadily building a dedicated readership through its charming character dynamic. Kodansha published the eleventh compiled volume in May 2023. International fans have also embraced the property; Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the English release, expanding its availability for Western readers ahead of the anime's long-lead debut.
