The annual cultural celebration of Japanese comics and animation in Europe, Manga Barcelona, has officially revealed its monumental guest lineup and official festival poster for the upcoming gathering scheduled from December 5-8 at Fira Barcelona Gran Via. Setting the artistic tone for the convention, master of horror manga Junji Ito has illustrated the striking event key visual.
This year's roster spans legendary creators, acclaimed animation directors, and notable musical artists from across the Japanese entertainment industry. Attendees at the Fira Barcelona Gran Via venue will have rare opportunities to engage with towering figures of the medium.
Star-Studded Creator Roster
The visiting delegation brings together prominent storytellers and illustrators whose works have defined contemporary manga. Attendees can look forward to interactions with Hyuganatsu, creator of The Apothecary Diaries, alongside Nao Iwamoto (The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom), Sakaomi Yuzaki (She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat), and the legendary duo Yudetamago, creators of Kinnikuman.
Further expanding the literary presence are Taizan 5 (Takopi's Original Sin), Kenny Ruiz (Team Phoenix), and Kore Yamazaki (The Ancient Magus Bride). Mecha and science fiction pillars are equally well represented, anchored by legendary creator Shōji Kawamori of Macross fame and veteran animator Risa Ebata (Macross F).
Animation and Musical Talent
Beyond printed pages, the convention welcomes heavy-hitting architectural talent behind recent masterclass anime adaptations. Director Keiichirō Saitō and producer Yuichiro Fukushi—the creative forces responsible for the astonishing success of Bocchi the Rock! and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End—will make special guest appearances.
Musical acts rounding out the massive roster include vocalists Reol and Lotus Juice, energetic bands ALI and Nightmare, music producer Aiobahn +81, and renowned Pokémon Trading Card Game illustrator Oswaldo Kato. Building on previous years that hosted directors like Shinichirō Watanabe, Manga Barcelona continues to cement its status as a premier global destination for Japanese popular culture.
