The October issue of Kadokawa's Comic Flapper magazine revealed that the manga adaptation of Lycoris Recoil by artist Yasunori Bizen and story creator Spider Lily will conclude in its next two chapters. Serialization began in September 2022 following the massive success of the original television anime, capturing the intricate double lives of elite teenage secret agents working out of an unassuming Tokyo coffee shop.
North American publisher Yen Press holds the English licensing rights for both the manga series and its companion light novels. The narrative unfolds in a meticulously controlled, nearly crime-free Japan maintained by the covert operations of Lycoris—uniformed youth agents blending seamlessly into urban life while carrying high-end firearms alongside their everyday accessories.
Franchise Origins and Future Outlook
The original television series premiered in July 2022 as the directorial debut of veteran animator Shingo Adachi, renowned for his character design work on Sword Art Online. Produced by A-1 Pictures with a conceptual story drafted by Ben-To author Asaura and character designs by Imigimuru, the anime quickly established a dedicated global fanbase through its stylish action sequences and character dynamics.
