The official website for the television anime adaptation of Midori Satou's Kyoufu Collector (Horror Collector) novel series revealed the main cast, staff, key visual, and a spine-chilling teaser promotional video. The supernatural mystery series is officially scheduled to premiere on October 10 at 11:45 p.m. on NHK-G, bringing the popular children's horror books to the television screen under the production of NHK Enterprises and animation studio Studio Palette.
Cast and Creative Ensemble
The newly announced voice cast brings together prominent talent to voice the eerie characters of the franchise. Hiiro Ishibashi stars as Fushigi Senno, alongside Jun Fukuyama as Jimmy, Saori Hayami as Himitsu, and Nobuhiko Okamoto as the Blue Umbrella Man. Behind the scenes, Yuki Inaba is spearheading the project as both director and series composition writer, with character designs handled by Kaori Yoshikawa.
Musical direction is equally robust, featuring sound direction by Tetsuya Gunji and an atmospheric musical score composed by Masato Kouda. Additionally, veteran singer-songwriter Shikao Suga, renowned for his work on xxxHOLiC, is performing both the opening theme titled "Kageboushi" and the ending theme.

Director Norio Tsuruta and author Midori Satou originally launched the Kyoufu Collector horror novels under Kadokawa's Tsubasa Bunko imprint back in June 2015. The spooky narrative resonated heavily with young readers, pushing the 28th volume to release in May and accumulating a cumulative total of one million copies in circulation across the franchise.
The expanding universe also inspired a manga adaptation illustrated by Niko Yuuki, which ran in Comic Gene from September 2021 to February 2022 before being compiled into a single volume. International fans have also gained access to the property, as Yen Press licensed both the original novels and the manga adaptation in English, publishing key volumes to bridge global audiences ahead of the upcoming television broadcast.
