The atmospheric and visually breathtaking world of Aki Irie's manga Hokuhokusei ni Kumo to Yuke (Go Beyond the Clouds West-Northwest) is making the leap to television. Production has officially been confirmed for a 2027 premiere on TBS, accompanied by a worldwide exclusive streaming release on Netflix. Alongside the premiere window, studio Qzil.la revealed a stunning key visual and a hauntingly atmospheric first promotional video.
Set against the rugged, mesmerizing landscapes of Iceland at 64 degrees north latitude, the narrative follows 17-year-old Kei Miyama. Beneath his calm exterior, Kei harbors three distinct peculiarities: he can talk to automobiles, struggles around girls, and works as a private detective. Driving his trusted Jimny across sweeping tundra and coastal roads, Kei investigates local mysteries ranging from runaway pets to romantic pursuits.
Voice actor Tomohiro Ohno has been cast to bring the enigmatic protagonist to life. Discussing the character, Ohno noted Kei's quiet composure and underlying kindness toward those in need. "The grandeur of Iceland's nature combined with the intricate mysteries surrounding the characters draws you right into the world," Ohno shared.
