Classic shojo romance fans have a major collector's milestone to look forward to. Manga Mavericks Books and Omoi have officially announced the English license acquisition of Georgie, the celebrated historical romance manga written by Mann Izawa and illustrated by legendary shojo artist Yumiko Igarashi.
The publishing schedule begins with digital-exclusive releases via Omoi slated for Spring 2027. Following the digital rollout, Manga Mavericks Books will launch the series in physical print starting in August 2027. The definitive physical release will span two deluxe hardcover volumes presented in an expansive JIS B5 format, with the first massive omnibus packing a staggering 480 pages.
Retro Roots & Legacy
Originally serialized in Shogakukan's iconic Shojo Comic (now known as SHO-COMI) between 1982 and 1984, Georgie compiled into five original tankobon volumes during its initial run. The property later received a 45-episode television anime adaptation titled Lady Georgie produced by Tokyo Movie Shinsha, broadcast across Japan from 1983 to 1984. Western fans recently gained access to the animated series when Discotek Media issued a complete Blu-ray release in late 2023.
Georgie is a lively young girl who lives with her mother and two older brothers in the countryside of Australia. One day, she meets a young English noble named Lowell, who changes her life forever and leads her on a quest to England to discover her roots.
