During their recent Manga Mavericks Monday online showcase, Manga Mavericks Books announced two major additions to their upcoming publication lineup. Chief among them is the official English license acquisition of Gago Hunters: Greetings from Amatsumizu City’s Gago Suppression Squad, penned and illustrated by Sho Yunoko.
Set for a print and digital launch in July 2027, the first volume of this supernatural comedy will span 196 pages in an A5 format. The narrative follows the eccentric residents of Amatsumizu City, a seemingly ordinary town overrun by mysterious creatures known as Gago. When a cash-strapped mayor forcibly drafts an unassuming quartet—consisting of a hair stylist, a cashier, a high schooler, and an apprentice—into a makeshift suppression squad, chaotic supernatural antics ensue.
Alongside the Gago Hunters acquisition, the publisher revealed an exclusive variant cover for Taiyo Matsumoto’s acclaimed early-career collection, Brothers of Japan. Scheduled for a February 2027 release, this special edition will be available exclusively through the official Manga Mavericks Store.
Originally produced when Matsumoto was in his twenties, the collection features eleven distinct short stories that capture the formative artistic sensibilities of the legendary creator, anchored by a titular piece about two brothers digging a hole in their dreams to reach the opposite side of the globe.
