Aniplex has officially stepped up as the publisher for Type-Moon Studio BB’s long-anticipated Fate/Extra Record, dropping a striking new character promotional video titled the 'RIVAL's SIDE' trailer. The footage highlights the formidable lineup of opposing Masters and Servants that players will clash with during the intense digital recreation of the Moon Holy Grail War.
Alongside the fresh video assets, Aniplex detailed the expansive voice cast breathing new life into the classic 2010 PlayStation Portable title's rival roster. Notable additions include Hiroshi Kamiya stepping back into the role of Shinji Matou, Urara Takano voicing his Servant, and a sprawling ensemble featuring Ai Nonaka, Romi Park, and Kana Ueda portraying iconic characters across the alternate science-fiction continuity.
Release Date and Editions
The game is now locked in for a January 28 launch across Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam, with Marvelous Europe handling publishing duties for Europe and Australia. Collectors can look forward to a physical Limited Edition featuring a three-disc soundtrack, a SteelBook case, and an artbook, while digital buyers can opt for the Deluxe Edition containing arranged background music tracks and expansive outfit bundles.
Development Background
This milestone announcement follows a turbulent development cycle that included shifting publishing agreements away from Bandai Namco and the departure of director Kazuya Nino due to health considerations. Despite these structural pivots, original character designer Arco Wada returns alongside the core creative forces to deliver this comprehensive remake of the fan-favorite 'Extraverse' classic.
