Aniplex has officially assumed global publishing duties for Type-Moon studio BB's upcoming remake, Fate/Extra Record. The transition follows a joint decision between Type-Moon and prior publishing partner Bandai Namco Entertainment to part ways, revitalizing a project that had faced indefinite scheduling limbo.
Leadership Transition
Alongside the publishing handover, veteran game director and planner Kazuya Nino revealed he is departing Type-Moon studio BB and stepping down from directing Fate/Extra Record. Nino, who originally produced the 2010 PlayStation Portable classic and contributed significantly to the first Etrian Odyssey, confirmed he is stepping away from active game development to focus on personal health recovery.
Platforms and Heritage
First announced in July 2020 to mark the original title's tenth anniversary, the reimagining features signature character design by artist Arco Wada. The updated release itinerary confirms support across a wide platform spread:
- PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4
- Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 hardware
- PC via Steam
The original dungeon-crawler RPG spawned a sprawling branch of the franchise known colloquially as the Extraverse, inspiring the companion title Fate/Extra CCC, the action spin-offs Fate/EXTELLA, and studio SHAFT's 2018 television adaptation Fate/Extra Last Encore.
