A previously theater-exclusive preview for the upcoming sci-fi feature Expelled from Paradise: Resonance (Rakuen Tsuiho -Kokoro no Resonance-) has officially debuted online, paired with a video greeting from voice actor Rie Kugimiya, who portrayed original lead Angela Balzac.
The Core Creative Team Returns
Serving as the direct sequel to the acclaimed 2014 cyberpunk movie, the new project reunites director Seiji Mizushima, screenwriter Gen Urobuchi (NITROPLUS), and character designer Masatsugu Saito. While 3DCG studio Graphinica co-handled the original film, Toei Animation is heading animation production directly for the sequel.
The narrative shifts focus to a new team of Agents dispatched from the orbital virtual archive DEVA down to the scarred surface of Earth. Their mission centers on tracking down "the Fallen," a renegade faction linked to Angela Balzac’s prior defiance against DEVA's digital authority.
Cast Additions and Multimedia Expansion
Alongside the trailer drop, the production unveiled the first of five planned character visuals spotlighting the operative Gabriel, voiced by Ayane Sakura. The voice cast also features:
- Saori Hayami as Arma
- Yoshino Aoyama as Daniel
- Sally Amaki as Raguel
- Sumire Morohoshi as Penem
Expelled from Paradise: Resonance hits Japanese cinemas on November 13, alongside the day-and-date release of its official soundtrack. The franchise will expand further shortly after with the global Steam launch of companion visual novel Expelled from Paradise -The Stellar Angel- on November 26.
