Over a decade after director Seiji Mizushima and visionary writer Gen Urobuchi delivered their landmark 3DCG sci-fi feature, the follow-up film Expelled from Paradise: Kokoro no Resonance (Rakuen Tsuihou: Kokoro no Resonance) has offered its most substantial story revelation yet. In a theatrical trailer unveiled during the "Aniplex One Focus 2026" broadcast, production studio Toei Animation confirmed that original protagonist Angela Balzac will return, with veteran voice actor Rie Kugimiya reprising her iconic role.
The Fallen and Diva's Fractured World
Set for a nationwide Japanese roadshow debut on November 13, 2026, Kokoro no Resonance reunites the core creative team behind the 2014 original, including character designer Masatsugu Saito and composer NARASAKI. The sequel shifts focus toward the direct fallout of Angela Balzac's original rebellion against the cybernetic society of Diva. Numerous security agents who defected alongside her stole material bodies and personal data archives, vanishing into the nano-hazard ruined Earth as a rogue faction branded "The Fallen."
Following the special preview broadcast, Kugimiya expressed her excitement regarding returning to the recording booth:
I recently wrapped post-recording, and I am genuinely thrilled to have had the opportunity to play this role once again.

- Ayane Sakura as Gabriel
- Saori Hayami as Alma

- Rie Kugimiya as Angela Balzac
Alongside the film's theatrical premiere on November 13, Aniplex will also issue the 47-track original soundtrack composed by NARASAKI, featuring exclusive slipcase artwork drawn by Masatsugu Saito.
