The enduring mystery phenomenon Detective Conan is expanding its landmark 30th-anniversary celebrations with a massive 2-hour television special, Case 30, scheduled to broadcast on Nippon TV's 'Friday Roadshow' block. Produced by TMS Entertainment and directed by Chihana Kamonaka, the special promises an unprecedented gathering of franchise icons tackling a nationwide counterfeiting crisis.
To mark the announcement, TMS Entertainment revealed a sweeping key visual highlighting sixteen core characters stepping into the fray. Alongside the visual, a brand-new promotional video was launched, showcasing the gravity of the 'Ultra 30' counterfeit banknote conspiracy that spans multiple prefectures and brings together regional police forces from across Japan alongside series staples Conan Edogawa and Heiji Hattori.
Musical powerhouse Mai Kuraki returns to the franchise to perform the special's theme song, titled Hallelujah. This marks Kuraki's 29th musical contribution to the anime, an ongoing collaboration that remains a cornerstone of the series' auditory identity. "I wanted to channel my heartfelt appreciation and passion for Conan into this special, crafting a message of hope and inner strength," Kuraki shared regarding the single.
Following the 2-hour broadcast, the regular television schedule will adapt the popular 'Akane-iro no Senchuraku' arc from Gosho Aoyama's original manga starting September 26. Set against the atmospheric backdrop of Osaka's Naniwa Theater and the towering Abeno Harukas, the three-week broadcast arc intertwines theatrical suspense with romantic developments between Heiji and Kazuha, rounding out an exceptionally busy autumn for the franchise.
