Commemorating three decades on Japanese television since its premiere in January 1996, Detective Conan will air a monumental two-hour television event titled Case No. 30 Murder Case on Nippon TV's prestigious Friday Roadshow programming block on September 25, 2026.
Helmed by director Fumiharu Kamanaka with a screenplay penned by veteran mystery scribe Takeharu Sakurai, the narrative revolves around a counterfeit currency syndicate that escalates into a nationwide crisis. The special brings together an extensive ensemble cast spanning the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, National Police Agency, prefectural investigators, and regional detectives.
Multitalented artist and model Elaiza Ikeda joins the production as guest voice talent, portraying Toko Satomi, a document examination specialist at the National Research Institute of Police Science who uncovers the sophisticated counterfeit bills.
Interactive Mysteries and Worldwide Streams
Beyond the Friday Roadshow broadcast, the 30th-anniversary celebration includes an unprecedented interactive episode titled Murder on the 31st Island. Directed by veteran series director Taiichiro Yamamoto and written by mystery author Takahiro Okura, the episode challenges viewers to deduce the culprit ahead of the broadcast reveal.
Streaming platforms and digital services will also play a central role in the festivities. Netflix is rolling out thirty character-specific curated collections spotlighting classic cases, while YouTube will host a retrospective watch-along of the foundational 42-episode first season.
The anniversary project needed to feel like a full-scale festival. To involve our expansive regular cast and police departments across the country, a nationwide counterfeit currency conspiracy was the ideal premise—blending classic mystery with cinematic action.
