G-Mode has officially announced Zoku Portopia Renzoku Satsujin Jiken: Bōkyaku no Maisō, a brand-new complete continuation and full remake of the legendary adventure title The Portopia Serial Murder Case. Set for a 2027 launch across Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the project brings back foundational industry talent alongside heavy-hitting modern creators.
Originally created by Yuji Horii and released by Enix in 1983, the original game pioneered narrative adventure design on Japanese personal computers before making history as Famicom's first adventure game in 1985. This ambitious new iteration preserves the historic setting of 1980s Kobe while expanding the narrative through five entirely new investigation files penned under Horii's supervision as production general director, promising to expose hidden truths behind the iconic case.
All-Star Creative Roster
The production boasts exceptional pedigree, tapping Kyoji Asano of WIT Studio—renowned for his character work on Attack on Titan and SPY×FAMILY—to completely redesign the classic pixelated cast alongside an all-new roster of characters. Meanwhile, acclaimed pianist and composer Shinya Kiyozuka has been tapped to score the soundtrack, writing over thirty original tracks to anchor the atmospheric mystery.
Adding to the interconnected retro universe, characters from Hokkaido Serial Murder Case: The Disappearing Okhotsk will also cross over into the narrative, rendered in Asano's updated aesthetic. G-Mode will host the world's first playable demo at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2026, offering early access to the opening chapters ahead of the 2027 release window.
