During its Otomate Party 2026 stage presentation, Idea Factory's flagship otome label Otomate revealed a slate of five upcoming titles, headlined by Hakuōki Shinkai Kiwame. Framed as a comprehensive compilation commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Otomate brand in 2027, the title is officially in development for the Nintendo Switch 2.
New Romance and Mystery Slate
In addition to the flagship Hakuōki compilation, Otomate showcased four distinct titles slated for the Nintendo Switch family of systems:
- Velvet Candy Tint Kiss: A modern urban fantasy romance directed by Noriko Hiro with character design by Maika Mido and scenario supervision by Jo Ninomae.
- GENROH: Originally released in 2012, this classical otome title joins the Otomate Graffiti line as its 14th entry, targeted for a 2027 Nintendo Switch release.
- Kimi wa Yuki ma ni Koinegau -Koi Musubi-: A fan disk companion to the historical romance You Wish in the Snow.
- Shinsō no Dopperuto ~Kagachi Kaoru Kuro Sagiri no Shiigoto~: A 1947 post-war mystery set inside a secluded Western mansion, directed by Hiroe Aoki with character design by Makoto Senzaki.
Legacy of the Shinsengumi
The Hakuōki franchise, centered on dramatized historical events involving Kyoto's Shinsengumi during the Bakumatsu period, remains one of Otomate's most lucrative cultural exports. Since launching its inaugural title, the series has expanded into multiple television anime series—including 2010's Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom and Record of the Jade Blood—alongside theatrical feature films, stage play musicals, and spinoff entries localized by publishers Aksys Games and Idea Factory International.
