The Yaneko anime adaptation has officially closed its broadcast run on Japanese television, marking the occasion with a high-profile commemorative illustration campaign. As the comedy series reached its 11th and 12th episodes on Tokyo MX, BS11, and AT-X, prominent manga authors stepped forward to contribute official artwork, generating significant discussion across social media.
Based on the original manga series by Nyannyann Factory published in Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine, Yaneko follows the chaotic and unapologetically lazy daily lives of anthropomorphic feline characters living alongside humans. The titular protagonist embodies total financial insolvency and a complete lack of modern civic responsibility, spending her days chain-smoking, lounging on dirty tatami mats, and drifting through life with zero ambition. Despite the rough edges and pungent aesthetic, the web-busting comedy struck a chord with readers before transitioning into a television anime production.
Final Episodes Celebration
For the penultimate 11th episode broadcast, manga artist Gamon Sakurai, renowned for Ajin: Demi-Human, provided an atmospheric illustration depicting the character sprawled out amidst scattered cigarette butts and domestic debris. The striking artwork immediately drew praise from fans for its raw texture and character presence. Following this, the 12th and final episode featured a distinct visual tribute by Oh-Great!, celebrated creator of Air Gear and Bakemonogatari manga adaptations, showcasing a character rendering that drew widespread acclaim for its characteristic artistic polish and distinct stylistic flair.
