Kyo Shirodaira's acclaimed dark fantasy manga Vampire Cross Vampeerz (Vampire Juujikai) is officially making the long-awaited leap to television. Announced for a 2027 premiere, the adaptation brings back a cult-classic title originally launched in Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan back in 2003. Spanning over two decades of anticipation since its initial serialization, the millennium-long tale of love, revenge, and bloodline destiny is finally taking shape in motion.
The narrative unfolds in a world where vampires, humans, and their dampier half-breed offspring coexist in fragile tension. At the center of the conflict stands Rose-Red Strauss, the solitary 'Vampire King of the Red Rose' and final monarch of the Night Country, who has waged a thousand-year war to reclaim his sealed queen. When a new threat emerges across the global landscape, hidden truths buried for centuries begin to unravel. The production is spearheaded by animation studios Zero-G and Liber, with Mankyu directing and handling series composition, jimao on character designs, and renowned composer Evan Call crafting the musical score.
The main voice cast features Yuma Uchida stepping into the role of the powerful protagonist Rose-Red Strauss, alongside Aino Shimada as Bridget Irving Frostheart, the fierce dampier leader. Alongside the announcement, the production team dropped an atmospheric teaser PV and key visual, highlighting the striking character dynamics and Evan Call's sweeping orchestral undertones.
