Developer AUGUST Inc. has announced the revival of Uta Macross, the celebrated rhythm title originally released on mobile platforms under the moniker Uta Macross: Smartphone De Culture. Rebuilt as a standalone offline experience, the revived title is scheduled to launch next spring across iOS, Android, and Steam, with an official English localization alongside Japanese.
To support development and expansion, a crowdfunding campaign on the Japanese platform Campfire has launched with a target goal of 30 million yen (roughly 190,000 USD). The campaign aims to finance additional tracks, platform support, and extra content across its 54-day runtime.
Super-Dimensional Overhaul
The revised edition overhauls the touch controls of the original to accommodate mouse and keyboard support on PC. The base release is slated to include:
- 50 franchise tracks available in the core package
- Over 1,000 collectible Plate illustrations graded 4-star and higher
- More than 20 distinct outfits for each featured singer
- A completely free-to-play in-game gacha system for acquiring Plates
- Post-launch DLC expansions containing the remaining music library and exclusive cosmetics
The original mobile title launched in August 2017 before concluding live-service operations in June 2022. It brought together vocalists and pilots from across the entire sci-fi saga, spanning The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Macross Plus, Macross 7, Macross Frontier, and Macross Delta.
