During the second day of the One Piece Day'26 event at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, series creator Eiichiro Oda and studio Toei Animation revealed a long-term theatrical roadmap for the iconic franchise. Two brand-new theatrical feature films are officially in production: One Piece Film God Valley, arriving in Japanese theaters in Summer 2027, and One Piece Film Baad, scheduled for release in 2029.
The arrival of One Piece Film God Valley will mark the franchise's first cinematic effort since 2022's blockbuster One Piece Film: Red, which generated 20.33 billion yen (roughly $127.89 million) at the Japanese box office. Crucially, the 2027 premiere is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the manga's original serialization debut on July 22, 1997. While storyline details remain secret, the title strongly hints at the historic confrontation surrounding the legendary island of God Valley in the series' lore.
A Dual Cinematic Vision
The second feature film, One Piece Film Baad, expands the theatrical calendar into 2029. Official promotional logos show a prominently stylized letter "D" in the title, personally handwritten by Oda. The author began serializing the ongoing adventure manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shounen Jump back in July 1997, crossing over 600 million copies in print globally.
