Toshiko Machida's manga Hanako-gari (Hanako Hunt) has officially reached its conclusion on Kodansha's Pocket Magazine digital service, with the final chapter publishing on August 27. The dark supernatural narrative, which debuted in September 2025, centers on a dystopian Tokyo where rampant spirits are rebranded under the designated name "Hanako." While the Tokyo Metropolitan Government publicly establishes a dedicated agency under the guise of protecting these entities, the organization operates as a covert task force designed to systematically hunt and eliminate them.
Publisher Kodansha released the second compiled tankobon volume in March and will publish the third and final volume on September 9. The serial's conclusion marks another rapid turnaround for creator Toshiko Machida, whose previous series The Demon Consort: "I Love You" Are Frightening Words concluded in April 2025 after launching on NTT Solmare's Comic CMOA service in March 2024. That three-volume work was published in Japan by Shinchosha and is currently licensed in English by Yen Press.
