Kodansha's Comic Days web platform has officially released the final chapter of Foodies, the culinary manga created by writer Tadashi Agi and illustrator Jun Nakanishi, with original concept and research cooperation by Shokichi. The series, which launched on the platform, has drawn attention for its distinct corporate approach to gourmet reviewing and high-stakes culinary scouting.
The narrative follows Takumi Itadaki, the grandson of a legendary chef, who receives a corporate assignment to launch a new, cutting-edge gourmet review website. His mission is to track down rare gastronomic experts and true food critics. However, a major corporate rival named Tenshoku launches an identical concept, sparking an intense recruitment war between the two corporate factions to secure top-tier culinary talent.
Writer Tadashi Agi is widely recognized as the pen name for Shin Kibayashi and his sister Yuko Kibayashi, the creative force behind legendary titles such as Drops of God. Kibayashi’s extensive bibliography spans multiple pseudonyms, including Yuya Aoki for GetBackers, Ryō Ryūmon for Bloody Monday, and Seimaru Amagi for The Kindaichi Case Files, showcasing a prolific career across mystery, drama, and contemporary storytelling.
