The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the Tokyo Ravens light novel series has confirmed that author Kouhei Azano and illustrator Sumihei's supernatural franchise will officially conclude with the release of its 18th volume this coming winter. The announcement brings a definitive endpoint to a modern classic of school-based mysticism and onmyodo combat.
Launched in May 2010 under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint, Tokyo Ravens follows an ordinary boy named Tsuchimikado Harutora born into a prestigious family of onmyoji despite lacking the ability to see spirit energy. The series captured readers with its intricate magical mechanics and high-stakes political intrigue, eventually inspiring a 24-episode television anime adaptation by studio 8bit that aired from October 2013 to March 2014, alongside numerous manga adaptations including Atsushi Suzumi's 15-volume main run.
The franchise weathered a notable six-year hiatus following the release of its 16th volume in October 2018 before Kadokawa published the 17th volume in March 2025. With a cumulative total of one million copies in circulation as of September 2023, alongside high rankings in the 2014 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! guidebook, the conclusion of Volume 18 marks the final chapter for a foundational pillar of 2010s light novel fantasy.
