English-language manga readers have a new fantasy romance epic to dive into as Viz Media officially brings Nao Iwamoto's acclaimed The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom to international audiences. The publisher released the first two chapters digitally, marking a major milestone for a series that has steadily captured readers' imaginations since its initial debut.
Originally serialized in Shogakukan's Flowers magazine starting in 2016, the narrative follows seven royal brothers appointed as ambassadors to neighboring realms. Each sibling embarks on an expansive journey not only to represent their sovereign home in the center of an eight-kingdom alliance, but also to seek out their fated romantic partners. The series previously claimed the top spot for female readership in Takarajimasha's prestigious Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook back in 2018.
Anime Adaptation on the Horizon
The timing of Viz Media's digital publishing initiative coincides with the franchise's broader expansion into television animation. A television anime adaptation produced for NHK Educational is slated to premiere on Saturday at 6:25 p.m. JST. Creator Nao Iwamoto is no stranger to successful screen adaptations; their previous work, Kingdom of Gold, Kingdom of Water, successfully transitioned into an anime feature film in January 2023.
