Naver WEBTOON has officially confirmed that the monumental romance hit The Remarried Empress is returning for a special run of side stories. Following its dramatic conclusion earlier this year after an impressive seven-year serialization, the beloved manhwa is set to release its fresh narrative chapters on the Daily Plus service, rolling out simultaneously across global platforms.
Written by Alphatart and brought to vivid artistic life by adaptation writer Heree and artist SUMPUL, the narrative chronicles the resilient Empress Navier. After her husband, Emperor Sovieshu, demands a divorce to pursue Rashta, Navier famously chooses not to despair, instead accepting a proposal to remarry Emperor Heinrey of the Western Kingdom. The upcoming epilogue chapters will transport readers back into their opulent world, focusing on the domestic bliss of newlywed life following the birth of their twins, alongside untold perspectives of supporting figures from the imperial court.
In addition to post-canon domestic tales, the special release is set to feature compelling alternate-universe scenarios. These include imaginative what-if storylines, such as revisiting the fateful day Sovieshu declared his intention to divorce, or exploring an alternate reality where Rashta takes on the role of Navier's personal maid. These creative tangents promise to offer fresh dramatic friction for long-time readers.
The timing of these side stories precedes a massive multimedia expansion for the franchise. A live-action adaptation produced as a Disney+ original series starring Lee Se-young is scheduled to debut on November 4. Meanwhile, the global fanbase has an even larger milestone on the horizon, with a dedicated anime adaptation slated to premiere in 2027.
