The critically acclaimed webtoon phenomenon The Remarried Empress is officially making the transition from panels to television screens. Announced during a special showcase panel at New York Comic Con 2026, the series has slated its highly anticipated anime adaptation for a 2027 premiere, courtesy of animation powerhouse TROYCA.
Alongside the initial studio announcement, production committees debuted two teaser trailers offering fans a first glimpse at the sweeping political drama and character aesthetics. Crunchyroll confirmed it will exclusively stream the series worldwide upon its debut, marking a major milestone for webcomic adaptations.
Behind the Production
Steering the ship at TROYCA is director Tetsuya Yanagisawa, renowned for his work on Berserk of Gluttony and Orient. Joining him is series composer and scriptwriter Akiko Inoue, alongside Jun Nakai of NieR:Automata Ver1.1a fame handling character design, and Yuki Fukazawa composing the original score.
The principal voice cast features heavyweights of the Japanese voice acting industry:

A Global Webtoon Phenomenon
Originally originating as a digital web novel penned by Alphatart between 2018 and 2020, the franchise expanded immensely following its 2019 webtoon serialization on Naver Webtoon, illustrated by Sumpul. Ize Press currently handles the physical English localization, accumulating over eleven volumes.
Navier devoted her life to ruling the Eastern Empire beside her husband and childhood friend, Sovieshu. But when he falls for his concubine and demands a divorce, Navier shocks the empire with her response. She accepts and requests a remarriage to Heinrey, a prince of the Western Empire.
