Alphatart and SUMPUL's international webtoon sensation The Remarried Empress (known in Japan as Saikon Shounin wo Youkyuu Shimasu) is officially receiving a television anime adaptation, scheduled to premiere in 2027. Animation production will be helmed by studio TROYCA (Bloom Into You, Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files) and produced by HAYATE.
Alongside the initial broadcast window, the production committee unveiled the project's first teaser preview alongside character art depicting the central royal quartet navigating high-stakes court intrigue.
Imperial Drama and Sovereignty
Amassing over 2.97 billion views worldwide across WEBTOON and LINE Manga platforms, the narrative centers on Navier Ellie Trovi, an empress groomed from youth to be the perfect sovereign partner for the Eastern Empire. Her dedicated life unravels when Emperor Sovieshu becomes infatuated with an escaped slave named Rashta and abruptly demands a divorce. Rather than fade into quiet obscurity, Navier prepares an unprecedented counter-stroke: accepting the divorce on the condition that she is granted permission to remarry Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom.
Production Staff and Primary Cast
Director Tetsuya Yanagisawa (High School DxD, Senran Kagura) will helm the series at TROYCA, with Akiko Inoue handling series composition and scripts. Veteran animator Jun Nakai (GATE, Tokyo Majin) provides character designs, while Yuki Fukasawa composes the original soundtrack.
The central voice cast brings together seasoned industry veterans:
- Navier Ellie Trovi: Yoko Hikasa (Emi Yusa in The Devil Is a Part-Timer!)
- Heinrey: Ryohei Kimura (Kotaro Bokuto in Haikyu!!)
- Sovieshu: Tomoaki Maeno (Zhongli in Genshin Impact)
- Rashta: Reina Ueda (Kanao Tsuyuri in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba)
Original author Alphatart, illustrator SUMPUL, and adapter HereLee shared an exclusive commemorative illustration to celebrate the production greenlight ahead of the series' 2027 debut.
