The official X account of the Dengeki Maoh magazine announced that Akane's iconic four-panel comedy spin-off manga Puchimas!: Petit iDOLM@STER will officially end with its 200th and final chapter. The concluding installment is scheduled to release in the magazine's issue on December 25.
Based on Bandai-Namco's multimedia giant The iDOLM@STER franchise, creator Akane first launched the series in Dengeki Maoh back in July 2008. Over its 18-year publication run, the series became a fan-favorite parallel universe featuring adorable, chibi-fied versions of the main idols alongside their mysterious, pet-like "Puchidols." Kadokawa published the 15th compiled volume in December 2024, with the final 16th volume slated for release in February 2027.
Franchise Adaptation Legacy
The runaway popularity of the chibi spin-off led to extensive multimedia adaptations over the years. Studio Gather produced a 64-episode net anime adaptation that streamed from January to March 2013, followed by a 74-episode sequel series titled Puchimas!! running between April and June 2014. Additionally, multiple original video anime (OVA) episodes were bundled with limited editions of the manga, starting with the Fuyu→Kotatsu←Haru OVA in March 2014, and subsequent episodes released in 2018.
