The romantic comedy phenomenon The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t a Guy At All (known to fans as KiniOto or the "Green Yuri") has officially confirmed its broadcast debut. The adaptation will premiere on January 8, 2027, bringing Sumiko Arai’s beloved web manga to life with animation production handled by CloverWorks.
Alongside the premiere date, the production team dropped the first official trailer, highlighting the distinctive visual style that made the original Pixiv serialization a viral sensation. Acclaimed director Masashi Ishihama is spearheading the project. The voice cast features Mariya Ise as the enigmatic Mitsuki Koga and Akari Kito as the music-loving high schooler Aya Osawa. In an unexpected musical crossover, Nirvana’s iconic track "Breed"—confirmed directly by Dave Grohl—will serve as the anime's opening theme song.
