Studio CloverWorks has officially revealed the main character visuals for Mitsuki Koga and Aya Osawa ahead of The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t a Guy At All (Ki ni Natteru Hito ga Otoko Ja Nakatta), set to premiere in January 2027. Announced during Aniplex's livestream event, the adaptation stars Mariya Ise as Mitsuki and Akari Kito as Aya. Directing the series is veteran director Masashi Ishihama, with rock legend Dave Grohl revealing that Nirvana's legendary track "Breed" will serve as the opening theme song.
Widely celebrated for its distinctive monochrome aesthetic accentuated by vibrant green hues—earning it the nickname "Green Yuri" among readers—the series originated as Twitter short stories by Sumiko Arai in July 2021. After gaining massive traction, it transitioned into full web serialization on Pixiv Comic and physical release through Media Factory, going on to win the web category at the 2023 Next Manga Awards.
