Manga creator Manavu Kashimoto, widely recognized for his work on the classic series Croquette!, has officially debuted a brand-new mystery manga titled Tantei Neko Machida (Detective Neko Machida) in Shogakukan's Weekly Coro Coro Comic digital magazine.
The narrative centers around an unorthodox detective named Neko Machida and assistant Myako as they tackle baffling investigations using unconventional methods and unique deductive talents. The series marks another milestone for Kashimoto within the Shogakukan ecosystem, following a prolific career in children's and comedy manga publishing.
A Storied Career in Children's Manga
Kashimoto first captured readers' attention with the original Croquette! adventure series, launched in Monthly Coro Coro Comics back in 2001 and subsequently adapted into a television anime in 2003. More recently, the author concluded the serialized sequel Croquette! Black Label, which ran across CoroCoro Aniki and later migrated to the digital platform before wrapping up in May 2025. With a robust catalog including titles like Shuriken Tonma and Henoheno Kappa Sensei, Kashimoto brings extensive genre experience to this latest feline-led mystery.
