Square Enix took the stage during Sony's latest State of Play livestream to unveil Final Fantasy Resonance, an offline HD-2D role-playing game that reimagines the foundational storyline of the mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Alongside the gameplay reveal featuring an encounter against iconic antagonist Sephiroth, a playable demo has gone live across digital storefronts.
The title is scheduled to launch worldwide on October 22 for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. Following the trajectory set by last year's offline adaptation of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, this production converts the mobile narrative into a standalone, full-scale console JRPG.
Echoes of the Crystals
The campaign chronicles the journey of knight commander Rain and his companion Lasswell as they defend the realm of Grandshelt from Veritas of the Dark following the destruction of the Earth Crystal. The dual-language voice cast brings together prominent talent across Japanese and English audio tracks:
- Rain: Nobuhiko Okamoto / Clifford Chapin
- Lasswell: Yūsuke Kobayashi / Alejandro Saab
- Fina: Akane Fujita / Lizzie Freeman
- Veritas of the Dark: Akio Ōtsuka / Ian Sinclair
- Lid: Ayaka Ōhashi / Elsie Lovelock
- Nichol: Tsubasa Yonaga / Khoi Dao
- Veritas of the Heavens: Show Hayami / Ricco Fajardo
- Veritas of the Waters: Kana Hanazawa / Colleen Clinkenbeard
The original mobile title launched in Japan in 2015 and concluded service worldwide across 2024 and 2025. Final Fantasy Resonance aims to preserve the narrative foundation crafted by developer A-Lim and visual conceptualist Yoshitaka Amano, providing players with a comprehensive offline package complete with standard, Digital Deluxe, and physical Collector's Editions.
