Square Enix has officially pulled back the curtain on Final Fantasy Resonance, bringing a brand-new offline HD-2D console experience to players worldwide. Revealed during Tokyo Game Show, the announcement trailers showcase the game's nostalgic yet modern visual style alongside the theme song Inside performed by WurtS. The title serves as a complete console reimagining of the first major story arc from the now-defunct smartphone title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, which concluded its mobile services across Japan and North America.
Set in the Kingdom of Knights, Grandshelt, the narrative follows airship squadron commander Rain and his deputy Lasswell as magical barriers collapse and the world's elemental crystals face annihilation. After suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of the mysterious, armored antagonist Veritas of the Dark, the pair embark on an epic quest alongside a mysterious girl named Fina to protect remaining sanctuaries. Square Enix has assembled a star-studded voice cast for both Japanese and English tracks, featuring Nobuhiko Okamoto and Clifford Chapin as Rain, Yūsuke Kobayashi and Alejandro Saab as Lasswell, Akane Fujita and Lizzie Freeman as Fina, and Akio Ōtsuka alongside Ian Sinclair as the formidable Veritas of the Dark.
