Commemorating three years of enchanting fantasy storytelling, the Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (Sousou no Frieren) anime franchise hosted a massive 3rd-anniversary screening event at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya. The special gathering brought together key voice talent and production staff to reflect on the emotional depth of the second season while officially looking ahead to the much-anticipated continuation by studio Madhouse.
During the stage greeting, main cast members Atsumi Tanezaki (Frieren), Kana Ichinose (Fern), Chiaki Kobayashi (Stark), Tarusuke Shingaki (Genau), and Reina Ueda (Reina Ueda) discussed the intricate dynamics of the party's journey and the intense confrontations of the Revolte arc. The event also served as the debut venue for a brand-new 3rd-anniversary visual produced by Madhouse, capturing the quiet melancholy and enduring bonds that define Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe's masterpiece.
Season 3 Golden Land Arc Release Window
The crown jewel of the anniversary announcements was the official confirmation that Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 3, adapting the acclaimed Golden Land Arc, is scheduled to broadcast in October 2027 on Nippon TV and affiliated networks. Director Tomoya Kitagawa, head writer Tomohiro Suzuki, and composer Evan Call are set to return, maintaining the cinematic aesthetic and meticulous pacing that made the first two seasons a generational milestone.
To bridge the gap leading up to the October 2027 premiere, a special countdown illustration project has been launched. Featuring artwork by character designer Keisuke Kojima and other core animators, the initiative will periodically release official commemorative visuals at nine-month, six-month, and three-month intervals. As fans revisit the emotional resonance of the second season and the heroic legacy of Himmel, the stage is set for Madhouse to deliver another masterclass in atmospheric fantasy animation.
