Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End (Sousou no Frieren) has revealed a special new visual to mark the third anniversary of the anime’s first broadcast, which originally premiered in September 2023. The milestone announcement was shared during a special screening event attended by the main voice cast, giving fans a nostalgic look back at the journey so far.
Alongside the celebratory artwork, the production team reminded audiences that the highly anticipated Season 3—which will adapt the beloved Golden Land Arc—is slated for an October 2027 broadcast. The anniversary illustration depicts Frieren, Stark, and Fern enjoying a massive celebratory meal, with the silhouettes of the original Hero Party reflected softly in the background window.
Production Pedigree
Written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, the original manga has been serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday since April 2020. The animated adaptation is brought to life by studio MADHOUSE, renowned for its meticulous craftsmanship. The first season was directed by Keiichiro Saito, with Tomoya Kitagawa taking the directorial reins for subsequent episodes.
The creative powerhouse behind the series also includes series composition writer Tomohiro Suzuki, character designer Reiko Nagasawa, and composer Evan Call, whose sweeping orchestral scores have defined the emotional core of Frieren’s melancholic fantasy journey.
