In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Meiji Milk Chocolate, a staple of Japanese culinary pop culture since its launch in 1926, Meiji has announced the Meiji Milk Chocolate 100th Anniversary Exhibition. Scheduled to take place at the Tokyo International Forum Hall E(2) from December 23 to December 30, 2026, this milestone event brings together historical archives and an extraordinary cross-generational art showcase.
A Century of Sweetness Meets Legendary Manga Talent
The centerpiece of the exhibition is a dedicated manga zone featuring exclusive, newly drawn celebratory illustrations and personal messages from 40 iconic manga creators spanning the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras. The stellar lineup includes Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe (Sousou no Frieren), Ai Yazawa (NANA), Mitsuru Adachi (Touch), Tsukasa Hojo (City Hunter), Yana Toboso (Black Butler), Yuki Suetsugu (Chihayafuru), and Tsubasa Yamaguchi (Blue Period).
Interactive Displays and Contemporary Fine Art
Beyond the manga contributions, the venue will showcase works from 21 fine artists spanning sculpture, traditional painting, and modern installation art. Visitors will also encounter immersive photo spots—including a giant chocolate block entrance wall—and historical displays chronicling Meiji's iconic packaging designs and television commercials over the past century. Each admission ticket includes a complimentary full-sized Meiji Milk Chocolate bar, with special guest talk events planned throughout the week-long run.
