First serialized in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits in 1983, the original Oishinbo manga stands as one of the most influential food-centric manga series in history, running for 111 compiled volumes prior to its hiatus in May 2014. The franchise previously inspired a popular 136-episode anime adaptation by Shin-Ei Animation that ran between 1988 and 1992.
