The high-stakes historical combat manga Tenkaichi: Nihon Saikyou Bugeisha Ketteisen (Tenkaichi: The Greatest Warrior Under the Rising Sun) is officially receiving a television anime adaptation, scheduled to premiere in April 2027. Written by Yousuke Nakamaru and illustrated by Kyoutarou Azuma, the original manga launched in 2021 in Kodansha's Young Magazine the 3rd before transitioning to Monthly Young Magazine. Set in an alternate Sengoku period, the story follows Oda Nobunaga as he organizes an unfiltered tournament to determine his successor, pitting iconic martial artists against one another in fatal duel-to-the-death battles. The work earned widespread acclaim, receiving a nomination for the 8th Next Manga Award (Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho) in 2022.
